Local Moving
Moving within Cobden, or over to Renfrew, Pembroke, Beachburg, Westmeath, or Foresters Falls? A 30-minute drive down Highway 17 gets the same plan and the same crew as a cross-country job.
Headed out of the Valley to another province, or overseas? As a United Van Lines partner, your long-distance move gets a clear plan from a dedicated Moving Consultant, so you’re never chasing an update.
Rural closings can misalign. When the dates don’t line up, we can set up a storage container on-site and let you fill it gradually, or hold everything at our warehouse until you have the keys.
Packing Services
We arrive with cartons, tape, and packing paper, properly wrap glassware and picture frames, and mark every box by room. This saves you time and energy when you’re settling into your new home.

The Cassidy’s Process: How It Works

  1. Get a Quote. A moving consultant goes over the dates, what you’re moving, and the access at both ends, including whether spring load limits are in play. You’ll have the quote in writing before anything is booked.
  2. We Pack & Load. The crew arrives with dollies, straps, runners, and furniture blankets. Everything is wrapped and loaded in the order that makes the unload go quickly.
  3. Welcome Home. We unload, set each piece in the room it belongs, and put back together anything that came apart during the trip.

“Having moved 6 times in 12 years, we’ve had plenty of recent experience with moving companies. Cassidy’s outdid every other mover.”

FAQs

Do you have experience moving families to rural routes and farm properties around Cobden?

Yes, and a good share of our Valley moves include farmhouses, hobby farms, and homes at the end of a long private lane. For rural moves, we also ask if there is room to turn a truck at the top of the lane, and if there is a shop or barn to empty as well as the house. We ask during the quote, so the right truck and crew size show up.

Can you handle moving large recreational items like ATVs, snowmobiles, or boats to our new Cobden property?

Often, yes, though it depends on the item and how it’s set up to travel. Machines like these need their own handling, sometimes their own trailer, and there are a few things we don’t take at all. Mention them when you call, and we’ll tell you what we can move.

Is a move from Ottawa to Cobden considered a long-distance move?

No. Cobden is roughly 115 kilometres from Ottawa, which puts it well within the 100-mile radius considered a local move. This means hourly pricing rather than a weight-and-distance calculation.

Why Choose Cassidy’s As Your Cobden Movers

The Local Advantage: Why Experience Matters

A Cobden move isn’t an Ottawa move with a longer drive attached. The highway is slower than people expect, close to half the Township’s roads are gravel, and spring brings weight limits a loaded truck has to respect.

Here’s what we settle in advance of moving day:

Highway 17 Past Arnprior

Highway 417 ends at Arnprior, and the last 60 kilometres into Cobden are two-lane, undivided highway. It doesn’t behave like a freeway in freezing rain or behind a slow truck, so our drivers factor the actual travel time into the schedule.

Gravel Roads & Spring Load Limits

Out of the approximately 712 lane kilometres the Township maintains, 314 are gravel, so we ask about your property early: grade, turning room, soft spots. During the spring thaw, the Township and Renfrew County both post five-tonne-per-axle limits on signed roads, usually from early March through May. Highway 17 usually stays open to full loads during this time, but it’s worth checking the posted restrictions of the local roads.

Main Street Moves

Cobden’s commercial stretch is compact: the Township office, the Freshmart, the pharmacy, and the hardware store all sit between 37 and 98 Main Street. A parked moving truck takes up valuable space in front of someone’s retail store, so if you’re moving into a unit or a business along it, tell us at the quote stage, and we’ll sort out a more appropriate parking spot.

Muskrat Lake Waterfront Access

Cobden is the largest community on Muskrat Lake, with more than 300 waterfront properties around it. A long treed lane, a steep pitch toward the water, or a cottage the truck can’t reach directly will change the plan, so please send us photos during your initial consultation.
